Porn Made Me Do It
I had a very interesting “back and forth” conversation on twitter that prompted me to write this diary entry. It started off innocently enough, exchanging pleasantries and such and then quickly turned into a bit of a heated discussion. Neither of us ever got douchey with one another but we quickly realized we had our differences. And ones that we were not going to be able bring to a common ground . We agreed to disagree and discontinued our chat but I continued to ponder our words and felt the absolute need to write this.
His experience with people in the adult industry has clearly been skewed. When he realized that aside from my site and lifestyle, I also shoot adult scenes out in LA, his comment about people in porn was:
“no, these girls have straight up serious mental and physical problems from it. it’s widespread. it’s the norm.
Here is where he and I had to part Intellectual ways. Are there a large number of people who appear to be mentally unstable, bizarre, not well adjusted, and appear to not be in touch with reality? Yes. Yet those same words could be used for people in EVERY industry. In my suburban, gated community there are literally hundreds of Prozac poppin, soccer moms .. none of whom “do porn”
So why do “pornstars” seem to be the butt of so many labels? For one, many seem to congregate in one geographical location and two, the USA has a warped view of human sexuality.. in general … anything sexual is “seedy” and sensational. Most people are way to insecure and afraid of societies verbal wrath to dare walk on the wild side and live out their fantasies. So they enjoy watching and living those sexually alluring fantasies through the DVD’s and scenes we in adult create. But at the drop of a hat they will denounce the profession, make fun of the industry and bash any and all those involved in the production of said films. Weird.
Unfortunately for many adult entertainers they choose to live in close proximity to one another and feed off of their internal realized and unrealized drama. The profession they choose may have heightened the issues they already had but did not create them. It takes a strong individual to keep a level head in adult. That is true. A lot of money can be made at a young age and many find this addictive and forget about their limits, physical capabilities and original game plan. Very similar to strippers. Yep I said it. They get into a pattern of doing their job but hating it. They love the money but can’t stand the men who give them the cash. WHAT? That is illogical. They get cash because someone enjoyed their time and thought they were sexy and the stripper is angered by this. ISSUES, not because of stripping…because she had issues to begin with. I am only going to do this to get through college….LMAO! We all know that is a joke. Why someone would take on a career that they are ashamed of is beyond me. When I am asked why I do what I do I respond with:
“ I chose this career…I love what I do. It is definitely an extension of who I am …not what I am.”
I know I may be unique or in rare company with my attitude towards all this but I refuse to allow people to shove all entertainers into the overused commentary “they are all fucked up because of the porn they did and or do”.
Here is the deal for those in adult or those thinking about it. If one is afraid of fire, don’t become a firefighter. If you can’t swim, don’t go out for the swim team…..if you don’t like sex and or have issue with having multiple partners, don’t get into adult entertainment and then blame it for your troubles. To me it is a simple concept, do what you feel passionate about, do what you enjoy and everything else falls into place. Attempt to be and do something you were not designed to do…..your life will always feel like a square trying to fit through a triangular opening.
